
UMYU Journal of Educational Research is committed to upholding the highest standards of research and publication ethics. The journal takes all forms of research and publication misconduct seriously, including but not limited to plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, image manipulation, citation manipulation, duplicate or redundant publication, authorship disputes, and unethical research practices.
All allegations or suspicions of misconduct are investigated thoroughly and fairly in accordance with the COPE Guidelines and Flowcharts. When misconduct is suspected, the Editor-in-Chief will initiate a confidential inquiry, which may involve consultation with the editorial board, reviewers, or the authors’ affiliated institutions. Authors will be given an opportunity to respond to any allegations.
If misconduct is confirmed, UMYU Journal of Educational Research may take one or more of the following actions:
· Rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article.
· Issuance of a formal notice of retraction, correction, or expression of concern.
· Notification of the authors’ institution(s), funders, or other relevant authorities.
· Temporary or permanent ban on future submissions by the author(s).
All actions are taken with transparency, fairness, and confidentiality to preserve the integrity of the scientific record and maintain trust in scholarly communication.
UMYU Journal of Educational Research upholds the integrity of the scholarly record and follows transparent procedures for issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary. These measures ensure that published content remains accurate, credible, and ethically sound.
An article may be retracted when:
· There is clear evidence of data fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism.
· The article constitutes duplicate publication or has been published elsewhere without appropriate acknowledgment.
· The findings are found to be unreliable due to serious errors, unethical research practices, or misconduct.
· Authors have failed to disclose significant conflicts of interest that could have influenced the results.
· Legal or ethical violations (e.g., copyright infringement or breach of research ethics) are identified.
Retractions are decided by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board and, where appropriate, the authors’ institutions, following the COPE Retraction Guidelines.
· A retraction notice will be published in the next issue of the journal, clearly linked to the original article (which will remain online, watermarked as “Retracted”).
· The notice will state the reason for retraction and who initiated it (author, editor, or institution).
· Retractions are permanent and cannot be removed from the online archive to maintain transparency.
When honest errors are discovered in published works that do not invalidate the overall findings, the journal will issue:
· A Correction (Erratum) for minor errors that affect clarity but not the results or conclusions.
· An Addendum when additional information or clarification is needed post-publication.
Corrections are clearly labeled and linked to the original article.
In cases where investigations are ongoing or inconclusive, UMYU Journal of Educational Research may issue an Expression of Concern to alert readers to potential issues with a publication until a final decision is made.
All retractions, corrections, and expressions of concern are:
· Published promptly and freely accessible.
· Clearly linked to the original article through DOI metadata.
· Recorded permanently in the journal’s archives and in any indexing databases where the article appears.
