The paper discussed the socio-economic, political and financial environment as they affect decision making process in the primary education sector. In particular, the paper discussed the socio-economic environment of educational decision making, the political environment of educational decision making, as well as the financial environment of educational decision making. These factors were discussed thoroughly as education is believed to be the best and available channel through which positive change can easily be made. Therefore, it relates the effects of socio-economic, political and financial factors on education while taking decision on the programme. The paper established that egotistical political interest which thwarts long term plan and achievement has shattered the standard of education in the country. Despite the fact that Federal Government promised free basic education to all and sundry, but it failed to fund the programme appropriately. As a result, the education sector in Nigeria is characterised by lack of facilities, equipment, and plants, as well as uncompleted projects as a result of lack of political will and financial instability. These challenges affect decision making in basic education sector in Nigeria. It was suggested that the Federal Government should fulfil its promise by funding education sector appropriately especially at the grass root level.
